Two remarkable roles mark her career: starting with the role of barmaid Krystyna in Wajda’s legendary Popiół i diament/Ashes and Diamonds where she partnered Zbyszek Cybulski; and ending with Rebeka Widmar in Janusz Majewski’s Zazdrość i medycyna/Jealousy and Medicine, where Andrzej Łapicki played her passionate lover and Mariusz Dmochowski her jealous husband. With the first role she made a place for herself in the history of Polish cinema, and with the last she affirmed her talent. In the 15 years between the two she was Wala in Konwicki’s Zaduszki [‘All Souls’ Day’] and Zosia in Jak daleko stąd, jak blisko /How Far From Here, Yet How Close, and Hebron in Kawalerowicz’s Faraon/Pharaoh. She played in German, Romanian and Yugoslavian films but after leaving the country in 1973 she abandoned acting altogether.
