About the film
Andrzej Kondratiuk makes this television comedy into a grotesque parody of famous thriller films and comic books. Most of the gags, characters and humorous situations are already familiar to the viewers from the silver screen. The director makes sure the audience remains in suspense, but also serves up a hearty dose of entertainment. As a result, the film features scenes such as belly dancing and a man appearing unexpectedly in a harem, in addition to the personage of the comical Maharaja of Kabur, who is played by the unforgettable Roman Kłosowski.
The titular puzzle is the inexplicable disappearance of water in Warsaw during the greatest heat wave in years. Professor Milczarek, a scientist (Wiesław Michnikowski), is trying to solve it. He is helped by fearless detective Ace (Józef Nowak), who undertakes an unequal fight against a mysterious, demonic adversary, the perpetrator of the whole water affair. The trail leads first to a shady character called Spot, and then to the exotic Maharaja.
