About the film
One of the most interesting Polish films devoted to the problems of youth. An ironic portrait of young people’s consumerist approach to life as they clumsily enter adulthood.
Magda is still upset about the divorce of her parents; both she and Andrzej did not get enough credits on their university entrance exams. They love each other and want to start a life together. Magda takes a job as an orderly in a hospital, to gain preferential points on her next attempt to pass the exam for the Academy of Medicine. Andrzej, in order to quickly get the money to rent an apartment, takes a job in a private garage owned by Karol. He readily agrees to be the lover of the wife of his boss; he steals an icon from the apartment, and when he is caught and forced to compensate for the losses, he uses his and Magda’s savings. He explains to the shocked girl that he did it for their sake. Magda moves in with her father, who is dating a girl not much older than his daughter.
