Her debut was in Antoni Bohdziewicz’s unsuccessful Szkice węglem/Charcoal Sketches, after which she showed her class and style playing Joczys’s widow in Kazimierz Kutz’s Krzyż Walecznych/Cross of Valour. In Popiół i diament/Ashes and Diamonds she sang the very sad Czerwone maki na Monte Cassino [‘The Red Poppies on Monte Cassino’]. Later she moved the whole country with her performance of Danusia in Aleksander Ford’s Krzyżacy/Knights of the Teutonic Order, but that role became her curse – she never received any interesting role offers after that one. Janusz Majewski brought her back from obscurity – only temporarily as it turned out – to cast her as Widmar’s ex-lover in Zazdrość i medycyna/Jealousy and Medicine, and Filip Bajon gave her a supporting role in his TV film Rekord świata [‘World Record’]. Konwicki also gave her a small role in one of his films. However, Danusia and the captain’s widow brought her forever into the history of Polish cinema.
